The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an incorrect index restoration error in __filemap_add_folio() when retrying folio insertion after dropping the lock and reallocating memory. A local user can trigger a race condition to cause a denial of service.
The issue can result in a folio being stored at an incorrect xarray index after lock reacquisition if the conflict is resolved by another thread in the meantime.
