The vulnerability allows a local user to bypass file integrity protections.

The vulnerability exists due to improper access control in setattr_prepare() when processing truncate operations on fs-verity files. A local user can truncate an fs-verity file to bypass file integrity protections.

The issue can occur on filesystems containing fs-verity files even when fs-verity support is not enabled in the running kernel.
