Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 vulnerabilities.

1) Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-40993)

CWE-ID: CWE-502 - Deserialization of Untrusted Data

CVSSv4: 5.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote privileged user to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to insecure deserialization in JdbcAssertingPartyMetadataRepository when reading serialized credential collections from the saml2_asserting_party_metadata database table. A remote privileged user can store a malicious serialized payload in the verification_credentials or encryption_credentials columns to execute arbitrary code.

Exploitation requires write access to the repository-managed database table.

2) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-40988)

CWE-ID: CWE-400 - Resource exhaustion

CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled memory allocation in SAML 2.0 service provider redirect binding processing when inflating a compressed SAML payload into memory. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted compressed SAML payload to cause a denial of service.

The issue affects applications using the REDIRECT binding for SAML 2.0 Login or Logout.

3) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-41003)

CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

CVSSv4: 5.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:L/SI:L/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote user to execute arbitrary code in the victim's browser.

The vulnerability exists due to cross-site scripting in HTML forms generated by Spring Security filters when processing influenced values in RelyingPartyRegistration. A remote user can supply crafted values to execute arbitrary code in the victim's browser.

User interaction is required to load the generated HTML form.

4) Open redirect (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-41008)

CWE-ID: CWE-601 - URL Redirection to Untrusted Site ('Open Redirect')

CVSSv4: 5.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to redirect users to an arbitrary URL.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the authorization endpoint when processing authorization requests containing a request_uri parameter. A remote attacker can send a crafted authorization request with an invalid request_uri and an unvalidated redirect_uri to redirect users to an arbitrary URL.

User interaction is required to follow the crafted authorization flow.

5) Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-41694)

CWE-ID: CWE-347 - Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature

CVSSv4: 6.3 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to disclose sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to improper signature verification in SAML response and logout message decryption handling when processing crafted SAML payloads. A remote attacker can craft SAML responses, logout requests, or logout responses to disclose sensitive information.

The issue can expose the service provider as a decryption oracle.

6) Open redirect (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-41706)

CWE-ID: CWE-601 - URL Redirection to Untrusted Site ('Open Redirect')

CVSSv4: 5.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to redirect users to an attacker-controlled URL after login.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in CookieRequestCache and CookieServerRequestCache when processing the REDIRECT_URI cookie for post-login redirection. A remote attacker can influence the value of the REDIRECT_URI cookie to redirect users to an attacker-controlled URL after login.

User interaction is required because the victim must successfully log in for the redirect to occur.
