Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 vulnerabilities.
1) Missing Authorization (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-862 - Missing Authorization
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authorization checks.
The vulnerability exists due to missing authorization within PATCH /user/id/groups/gid. A remote user can become superAdmin.
2) Path traversal (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences in /add/map endpoint. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request and read or write arbitrary files on the system.
3) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-918 - Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)
CVSSv4: 7.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within Mattermost channel URL. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request and trick the application to initiate requests to arbitrary systems.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker gain access to sensitive data, located in the local network or send malicious requests to other servers from the vulnerable system.
4) Improper privilege management (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-269 - Improper Privilege Management
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges.
The vulnerability exists due to improper privilege management within POST /user/groups/save. A remote user can grant themselves superAdmin privileges.
5) Authorization bypass through user-controlled key (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-639 - Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authorization checks.
