The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an improper check for exceptional conditions in the ring-buffer self-test cleanup loop when handling a failed kthread creation. A local user can trigger cleanup after kthread_run_on_cpu() returns an error pointer to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs during the late_initcall self-test.
