The vulnerability allows a local user to cause an invalid user-space pointer to be accessed.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the copy_user_syms function when processing a user-space pointer array. A local user can provide a user-space pointer array without prior range validation to cause an invalid user-space pointer to be accessed.
