Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 vulnerabilities.
1) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-476 - NULL Pointer Dereference
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a null pointer dereference in message_process() in pair_ap/pair_homekit.c when processing incoming pair-setup or pair-verify messages containing a zero-length Error TLV. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted pairing message to cause a denial of service.
The issue can terminate the daemon and end audio for all connected clients.
2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a stack-based buffer overflow in the RTSP conversation thread in rtsp.c when hex-dumping the body of an RTSP request with an unrecognised method. A remote attacker can send an RTSP request with an unrecognised method and a large body to cause a denial of service.
On AirPlay 2 receivers, the issue is reachable before RTSP authentication.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper bounds checking resulting in a heap-based buffer overflow in unencrypted_packet_decode() when decoding oversized UDP audio packets during a classic-AirPlay session. A remote attacker can send an oversized UDP audio packet to cause a denial of service.
Only classic builds using the deprecated Hammerton ALAC decoder are affected; AirPlay-2-only builds do not use this audio path.
4) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 8.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to disclose sensitive information or cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the AirPlay-2 session-key handling and audio-packet decryption functionality when processing an under-length "shk" session key in an AirPlay-2 SETUP request. A remote attacker can supply a session key shorter than 32 bytes and start realtime audio to disclose sensitive information or cause a denial of service.
Exploitation requires completing AirPlay-2 pairing.
5) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-476 - NULL Pointer Dereference
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a null-pointer dereference in the handle_setup_2() AirPlay-2 SETUP handler when processing a SETUP plist containing a non-string timingPeerInfo.Addresses element. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted SETUP request to cause a denial of service.
AirPlay-2 transient pairing does not require a user-entered PIN by default.
