The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists in Apache ECharts in the Lines series tooltip rendering logic due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data when processing data passed via a custom tooltip.formatter, the built-in tooltip formatters conventionally perform HTML escaping automatically. This case breaks that convention and may unexpectedly lead to script execution when tooltips are displayed. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 6.1.0 if using the Lines series in this way, which fixes the issue. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
