CWE-ID: CWE-772 - Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime
CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper resource release in nfs_open_local_fh() when racing nfs_uuid_add_file() with nfs_uuid_put() teardown. A local user can trigger the race while opening a local file handle to cause a denial of service.
The failure path leaks nfsd_file and nfsd_net references, which can block nfsd_net and network namespace teardown.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
