The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to obtain a valid session token for any directory account.

The vulnerability exists due to improper authentication in the built-in LDAP authentication adapter when handling authentication requests with an empty password. A remote attacker can submit a directory username with an empty password to obtain a valid session token for any directory account.

Exploitation depends on the LDAP adapter being enabled and the directory accepting unauthenticated simple binds.
