Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.

1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-19499)

CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write

CVSSv4: 8.4 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to write beyond a caller-supplied output buffer.

The vulnerability exists due to a buffer overflow in strfmon and strfmon_l when processing a conversion with right-justified width padding. A remote attacker can supply a crafted format or field width to write beyond a caller-supplied output buffer.

Exploitation requires a destination buffer large enough for padding but too small for the internal memmove operation.

2) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-77117)

CWE-ID: CWE-835 - Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')

CVSSv4: 8.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to failure to clear a pending character in the SHIFT_JISX0213 converter when converting crafted input with an output buffer that splits a two-code-point sequence. A remote attacker can supply crafted SHIFT_JISX0213 input to cause a denial of service.

Only the SHIFT_JISX0213 character set is affected.

3) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-80489)

CWE-ID: CWE-835 - Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')

CVSSv4: 8.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to failure to clear a pending character in the EUC_JISX0213 converter when converting crafted input with an output buffer that splits a two-code-point sequence. A remote attacker can supply crafted EUC_JISX0213 input to cause a denial of service.

Only the EUC_JISX0213 character set is affected.
