The vulnerability allows a remote user to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browsers of users viewing a package page.
The vulnerability exists due to improper output encoding in the Maven POM packaging element handling of the Maven package detail page when rendering package metadata. A remote user can upload a specially crafted Maven POM to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browsers of users viewing a package page.
User interaction is required to view the affected package page, including package pages in public projects.
