The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of BIP_CHECK flags in the fs-integrity metadata handling functions when processing non-PI metadata with nogenerate or noverify flags. A local user can trigger integrity metadata generation or verification to cause a denial of service.
