The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper initialization in the zone->vmemmap_tails[] shared tail pages when processing bootmem HugeTLB folios before the shared tail pages are initialized. A local privileged user can boot a kernel with hugetlb_free_vmemmap enabled to cause a denial of service.

The issue affects kernels built with CONFIG_DEBUG_VM.
