CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in the Btrfs zstd workspace management code when waiting for a zstd workspace after workspace allocation fails. A local user can trigger the lost-wakeup condition to cause a denial of service.
The condition involves maximum-level workspaces, for which a fallback workspace is retained for waiters.
