Description

This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.

1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-97960)

CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to access out-of-bounds memory.

The vulnerability exists due to a race condition caused by reentrant access in the Intel PEBS buffer-draining functionality when a performance monitoring interrupt interrupts an in-flight PEBS buffer drain. A local user can trigger reentrant PEBS buffer draining to access out-of-bounds memory.

The PEBS buffer is shared by all events on a CPU.
