Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.
1) Open redirect (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-601 - URL Redirection to Untrusted Site ('Open Redirect')
CVSSv4: 5.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to redirect users to an arbitrary external domain.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of normalized URLs in ServerPlatformLocation's resolveUrl and parseUrl functions when processing crafted request URLs containing dot-segments and multiple slashes. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request URL to redirect users to an arbitrary external domain.
Only applications using server-side rendering are affected, and user interaction is required to follow the redirect.
2) Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-770 - Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to allocation of resources without limits or throttling in the @angular/router RouterLink directive when server-side rendering RouterLink directives with merged or preserved query parameters. A remote attacker can send concurrent HTTP requests containing oversized query strings to exhaust the Node.js worker heap and terminate the SSR worker.
Exploitation requires overlapping server-side renders in the same Node.js worker and an upstream proxy or load balancer that forwards long query strings.
3) Asymmetric Resource Consumption (Amplification) (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-405 - Asymmetric Resource Consumption (Amplification)
CVSSv4: 8.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of auxiliary outlet segments in @angular/router route recognition when processing crafted request URLs containing arbitrary empty-path outlet segments. A remote attacker can send a crafted request to cause a denial of service.
Only on-demand server-side rendering applications running on Node.js/V8 with susceptible route configurations are affected.
