Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-13311)

CWE-ID: CWE-407 - Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity

CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to inefficient algorithmic complexity in the parse() function when parsing attacker-supplied strings. A remote attacker can submit a specially crafted input string to cause a denial of service.

The issue blocks the single-threaded Node.js event loop, and plain space-separated words are sufficient to trigger the vulnerable behavior.

2) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-102422)

CWE-ID: CWE-78 - Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection')

CVSSv4: 9.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands.

The vulnerability exists due to improper neutralization of special elements used in an OS command in the quote() function when processing an attacker-controlled string containing a line terminator after a { comment } token. A remote attacker can supply a crafted token sequence to execute arbitrary commands.

Exploitation requires the line terminator to follow a { comment } token in the same quote() call.
