CWE-ID: CWE-191 - Integer underflow
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to trigger out-of-bounds reads.
The vulnerability exists due to integer underflow in mwifiex_ret_802_11_scan() when processing firmware-provided scan responses. A local user can supply a short response or a response with an oversized BSS length to trigger out-of-bounds reads.
The affected processing handles both normal and background scan responses.
