Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-96889)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: 9.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability exists due to a memory-related flaw in an upstream library used by the Next.js Image Optimization API when processing SVG files. A remote attacker can supply SVG files for processing to execute arbitrary code.
Exploitation requires Next.js to run on glibc-based Linux.
2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: 9.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability exists due to an unspecified flaw in Next.js use cache functions when returning multiple typed arrays. A remote attacker can exploit affected functions to execute arbitrary code.
Exploitation requires an application using App Router with Cache Components.
3) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: N/A)
CWE-ID: CWE-400 - Resource exhaustion
CVSSv4: 8.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled CPU resource consumption in the Next.js App Router when processing requests. A remote attacker can send specially crafted requests to cause a denial of service.
Exploitation requires the application to have at least one Server Action. Applications using Pages Router are not affected.
