Description

This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.

1) Reachable assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98425)

CWE-ID: CWE-617 - Reachable Assertion

CVSSv4: 0 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to trigger a kernel warning.

The vulnerability exists due to an unnecessary warning assertion in ieee80211_request_ibss_scan() when requesting an IBSS scan with no channels permitted by the current regulatory domain. A local user can request a scan under this condition to trigger a kernel warning.

The regulatory domain can change while an IBSS is operating, and the IBSS can continue operating briefly during a 60-second grace period before shutdown.
