1) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98165)

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

CVSSv4: 0 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to use the BAR0 fallback read path outside its intended device context.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of device type in amdgpu_device_read_fb_via_bar0() when reading framebuffer data through BAR0. A local user can use the fallback path on devices that are not SR-IOV virtual functions to use the BAR0 fallback read path outside its intended device context.

SR-IOV virtual functions may lack an available VRAM aperture during early initialization.
