Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Improper Authentication (CVE-ID: N/A)

CWE-ID: CWE-287 - Improper Authentication

CVSSv4: 9.3 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication and take over an arbitrary existing user account on routes protected by the affected guard.

The vulnerability exists due to improper authentication in Laravel's built-in TokenGuard when processing non-string credential values during authentication lookups. A remote attacker can submit a specially crafted, non-string credential value to make the underlying query match an unintended user record and authenticate without knowing that user's valid API token.

2) Incorrect authorization (CVE-ID: N/A)

CWE-ID: CWE-863 - Incorrect Authorization

CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to destroy data in related database tables, compromising data integrity and causing a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper access control in Laravel Framework's relationship inclusion processing when handling requests to certain read-only endpoints. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request to trigger a destructive database operation on a related table without write permissions, causing irreversible data loss and disrupting affected applications.
