Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Download of code without integrity check (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-102930)

CWE-ID: CWE-494 - Download of Code Without Integrity Check

CVSSv4: 9.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to download of code without integrity check in the download_wheel() function when downloading pip or setuptools seed wheels. A remote attacker can substitute a wheel served under the same distribution, version, and filename to execute arbitrary code.

The issue affects wheels retrieved through the periodic-update feature or the --download flag.

2) CRLF injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-102938)

CWE-ID: CWE-93 - Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences ('CRLF Injection')

CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to inject configuration values.

The vulnerability exists due to improper neutralization of line boundaries in PyEnvCfg.write() when serializing prompt values into pyvenv.cfg. A local user can supply a crafted prompt containing line boundaries to inject configuration values.

Exploitation requires the prompt to be derived from externally influenced data.
