Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98529)
CWE-ID: CWE-772 - Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime
CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to interfere with runtime power management, potentially preventing a parent device from entering runtime suspend.
The vulnerability exists due to a missing runtime power-management reference release in arizona_gpio_direction_out() in the Linux kernel's Arizona GPIO driver when a register update fails while switching a persistent GPIO line from input to output. A local user can initiate this direction change and, if regmap_update_bits() fails, leave an outstanding reference that may prevent the parent device from entering runtime suspend.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
