Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98532)
CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write
CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to corrupt kernel memory and potentially cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds memory access in the Linux kernel's ipv6_find_hdr() function when processing IPv6 extension headers whose declared lengths exceed the remaining packet data. A local user can submit a specially crafted IPv6 packet for processing through Open vSwitch to cause update_ipv6_checksum() to read and write a transport checksum field outside the packet buffer, corrupting kernel memory and potentially causing a kernel crash.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
