Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98597)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to trigger an out-of-bounds read that may disclose kernel memory or cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to incorrect receive-length validation in the Linux kernel's sr9700_rx_fixup() function when processing receive buffers. A local user can supply receive data with an inconsistent reported packet length to cause a copy to read beyond the receive buffer, because the length check does not account for the three-byte header and four-byte Ethernet CRC.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
