Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98612)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 5.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:P/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows an attacker with physical access to system to potentially cause a denial of service or disclose kernel memory.
The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds reads and acceptance of undersized packets in the Linux kernel's catc_rx_done() function when processing USB receive transfers. An attacker with physical access to system can supply malformed packet lengths or truncated transfers to trigger reads beyond the receive buffer or from uninitialized socket-buffer tailroom, potentially causing a kernel crash or memory disclosure.
Remediation
