1) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98614)

CWE-ID: CWE-835 - Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')

CVSSv4: 8.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service through an infinite loop in the Linux kernel's SCTP implementation.

The vulnerability exists due to an unreachable loop termination condition in sctp_assoc_update_retran_path() when selecting a retransmission path while every remaining transport, including the current retransmission path, is SCTP_UNCONFIRMED. A remote attacker can trigger affected SCTP retransmission-path processing under these conditions to cause the transport-selection loop to run indefinitely.
