Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98656)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 5.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service through a potential kernel crash.
The vulnerability exists due to use-after-free in the Linux kernel IIO trigger subsystem when pending reenable_work executes after its owning trigger has been freed by iio_trig_release(). A local user can potentially trigger a race between deferred interrupt work and trigger teardown to cause access to freed kernel memory and crash the system.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
