Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98461)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to potentially cause a denial of service by triggering an out-of-bounds read in the kernel.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the Bluetooth is_filtered_packet() function when filtering event packets before their lengths are validated. A local user can supply a malformed event through a controller or vhci device to trigger reads beyond an empty event buffer or a truncated command event, potentially causing a kernel crash.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
