Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Use of Uninitialized Variable (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98744)
CWE-ID: CWE-457 - Use of Uninitialized Variable
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause incorrect audio stream configuration, potentially disrupting audio operation.
The vulnerability exists due to use of an uninitialized variable in max98363_sdw_dai_hw_params() in the Linux kernel MAX98363 codec driver when configuring SoundWire audio streams. A local user can trigger stream configuration with an indeterminate stream_config.type value, which is passed to sdw_stream_add_slave() and later copied to stream->type by sdw_config_stream(), potentially disrupting audio operation.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
