Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98765)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 5.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to potentially cause a denial of service through a race between USB gadget request completion and driver teardown.
The vulnerability exists due to incomplete synchronization of request completion callbacks in the Linux kernel dummy-hcd driver when waiting for outstanding callbacks during gadget driver teardown. A local privileged user can trigger overlapping request completion and teardown operations, potentially allowing a gadget driver's module to be unloaded while a completion handler is still running and causing a kernel crash.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
