Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98769)
CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write
CVSSv4: 5.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:P/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows an attacker with physical access to system to read or corrupt kernel heap memory, potentially disclosing sensitive information or causing a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds reads and writes in the Linux kernel USB gadget f_uac1_legacy generic_set_cmd() and generic_get_cmd() functions when handling class-specific USB audio control requests. An attacker with physical access to system can use a malicious USB host to send crafted SET_CUR or GET_CUR requests whose bRequest low nibble selects an index from 5 through 15 into the five-element con->data array, accessing up to 44 bytes beyond the array to read or corrupt adjacent heap memory.
Remediation
