1) Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98781)
CWE-ID: CWE-772 - Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime
CVSSv4: 4.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to cause a device-reference leak that may lead to resource exhaustion.
The vulnerability exists due to a missing release of a device reference in the Linux kernel MediaTek DRM driver's mtk_drm_bind() function when binding a device that is not the mmsys master. A local privileged user can trigger the affected binding path to leave a reference acquired through of_find_device_by_node() unreleased, potentially exhausting resources through repeated triggering.
Remediation
