Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98830)
CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to cause memory corruption and potentially a denial of service in the Linux kernel.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write and an out-of-bounds read in wfx_hif_read_mib() in the wfx wireless driver when processing firmware responses to MIB read requests. A local privileged user can supply a firmware response with a length field exceeding the caller-provided val_len to overwrite the caller's buffer and read beyond the reply allocation, potentially causing a kernel crash.
Remediation
