Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Improper initialization (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98848)
CWE-ID: CWE-665 - Improper Initialization
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to potentially cause a denial of service on systems configured to trap bounds-sanitizer violations.
The vulnerability exists due to improper initialization of the array element count in ac100_rtc_register_clks() in the Linux kernel AC100 RTC driver when probing the device with CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS, CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP, and a compiler supporting __counted_by. A local privileged user can trigger the affected probe path, if permitted, to cause a bounds-sanitizer trap because clock pointers are stored in .hws[] before its associated .num count is initialized.
