Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98481)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 5.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:P/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows an attacker with physical access to system to trigger an out-of-bounds kernel memory read that may cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel NFC port100 driver when validating device-supplied response frames without checking their declared length against the actual received length. An attacker with physical access to system can supply a response with a 16-bit datalen value exceeding the received data length to make port100_data_checksum() read past the transfer buffer, potentially causing a kernel crash.
