Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98499)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose kernel memory contents.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel Wacom HID driver's wacom_wac_pen_serial_enforce() function when processing reports whose HID descriptor declares more usages than its report count reserves space for. A local user can supply a crafted HID descriptor and report to cause hid_field_extract() to read beyond the report buffer and expose the extracted value to userspace through an MSC_SERIAL event.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
