Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98502)
CWE-ID: CWE-772 - Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to exhaust kernel resources and potentially cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to missing resource release in the Linux kernel ALPS HID driver when removing a device. The separately allocated and registered DualPoint Stick input device is not tracked in hdev->inputs and is never unregistered by the default removal path. A local user can repeatedly trigger removal of affected devices to accumulate leaked input devices and potentially exhaust kernel resources.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
