1) Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98513)

CWE-ID: CWE-772 - Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime

CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to keep the graphics device powered on unnecessarily, increasing power consumption.

The vulnerability exists due to a missing release of a runtime power-management reference in the Linux kernel nouveau driver's nouveau_connector_detect() function when EDID retrieval fails. A local user can trigger a failure in nvif_outp_edid_get() during connector detection to keep the device powered on until the next successful detection.
