Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98521)
CWE-ID: CWE-835 - Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')
CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service through an endless loop in the Linux kernel's i915 graphics driver.
The vulnerability exists due to incorrect RCU teardown ordering in the i915 GEM object lifecycle when a GEM object is destroyed concurrently with fence iteration in i915_gem_busy_ioctl. A local user can trigger concurrent object destruction and fence iteration to cause a denial of service, as prematurely released fence references cause the iterator to restart indefinitely without a replacement fence list.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
