Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-99038)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service by hanging memory stick host removal and blocking kernel worker threads.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in the Linux kernel rtsx_usb_ms driver when device removal overlaps with memory stick request processing. A local user can trigger device removal during a memory stick check to leave a request without completion, causing removal to hang when the memory stick core waits for that request without a timeout.
Remediation
Install update from vendor's website.
