1) Incorrect authorization (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98937)

CWE-ID: CWE-863 - Incorrect Authorization

CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to collect kernel callchains without the required kernel profiling privilege, potentially disclosing kernel execution information.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect authorization in perf_event_open() in kernel/events/core.c when processing requests for kernel callchain collection. A local user can request PERF_SAMPLE_CALLCHAIN with attr.exclude_kernel == 1 and attr.exclude_callchain_kernel == 0 to bypass the perf_allow_kernel() permission check and capture kernel callchains.
