1) Improper handling of exceptional conditions (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98906)

CWE-ID: CWE-755 - Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions

CVSSv4: 5.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to potentially cause kernel memory corruption and a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to incomplete restoration of receive state in the lan966x driver's lan966x_fdma_reload() function when receive-resource allocation fails during an MTU change. A local privileged user can trigger an MTU reload that encounters an allocation failure to leave receive processing using inconsistent page geometry and stale XDP receive-queue memory-model registrations, potentially causing kernel memory corruption and a denial of service.
