Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-98890)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to trigger an out-of-bounds kernel memory read, potentially causing a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel libertas driver's lbs_hard_start_xmit() function when processing short transmit frames in monitor mode. A local privileged user can submit a frame containing insufficient data for the radiotap TX header and the 802.11 destination address field to trigger a read beyond the socket buffer data, potentially causing a kernel crash.
Remediation
