1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-99142)

CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write

CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to corrupt kernel memory, potentially causing a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel tracing predicate_parse() function when processing opening parentheses in tracing filter expressions. A local privileged user can submit a crafted filter expression that causes an operator stack push beyond the last allocated entry to corrupt kernel memory, potentially causing a denial of service.
