Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote user to bypass implemented security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect authorization checks. A remote user with access to the “run_splunk_query” Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool can bypass the SPL command allowlist controls in MCP by embedding SPL commands as sub-searches and perform unauthorized actions beyond the intended MCP restrictions.
