Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the utf_16le_to_utf_8_truncated() function in fmtutils.c when converting a Windows error message to UTF-8. A local user can trigger an out-of-bounds write and perform a denial of service attack.
