Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources. A remote user that does not hold the “admin” or “power” Splunk roles can craft a malicious payload into the realname, tz, or email parameters of the /splunkd/__raw/services/authentication/users/username REST API endpoint when they change a password and perform a client‑side denial‑of‑service attack.
